The Duckworth Lewis Method (artist)

28/09/2009

I have just had a listen to Neil Hannon’s Irish cricket-inspired pop group ‘The Duckworth Lewis Method’ expecting some joke songs and they are slightly, but they are also in some way brilliant! Definitely worth a listen. ‘The age of revolution’ is one of the more less joky songs and ‘Jiggery pokery’ is a fantastic description from Mike Gatting’s point of view on ‘the ball of the century’ and the last line is “I hate Shane Warne!”. Brilliant. There are song snippets on their official website and you can listen to the whole album on Spotify.

If you’re in the mood for silly cricketing songs, here’s a website for a new track from a bunch of Aussies: “Deep Backward Square Leg”

… there’s also a video, and a few jingles for cricket products that don’t actually exist… but it would be good if they did… :)
